Stars Shine Brighter in the Hill

About the stars

The Richmond Hill Stars is a girls only basketball program built to give local girls the same investment, coaching, and opportunity boys have always received, without the price tags and politics that dominate youth sports.

Every practice, skill session, and development opportunity is completely free so money never decides who gets a chance. Our mission is simple. Build confident, skilled, competitive girls and build a community that believes in them.

PRESENTING PARTNERS

Pizza Hut

Richmond Hill Stars is proud to recognize Pizza Hut as a Presenting Partner of our program. Their support helps us continue providing real opportunities for girls in our community by keeping things like gym space, tournaments, uniforms, and warmups available at no cost to families. We are grateful for Pizza Hut’s investment in what we are building and for believing in the value of giving local girls the chance to grow, compete, and represent Richmond Hill the right way.

Andrea Cloherty

We’re grateful to have Andrea Cloherty and her family as part of our Richmond Hill Stars program! Andrea, her husband Michael, and their three kids moved here from New York 5 years ago and have completely embraced and love this town.

She’s a local real estate listing specialist with The Johnson Group, a foster for Renegade Paws Rescue, and is always supporting our teams, our families, and everything that makes Richmond Hill home. Thinking about buying or selling your home? Give her a call! 518-225-4851

WHAT WE DO

This is a true development program, not a pay to play club. We train with intention and run a system that helps girls actually grow.

We hold two to three practices a week.
We compete in real tournaments.
We run open skills camps.
We train aggressively in the summer.
We only take girls from Richmond Hill.
We never charge a cent to participate.

Every rep and every session has a purpose. We are not here to collect fees.
We are here to develop players and build a girls basketball powerhouse in Richmond Hill.

HOW WE COACH

We coach with clarity and purpose. We do not use sprints, yelling, or fear to look like “tough coaches” or fill an ego. Our girls learn the game the right way because we teach both the how and the why behind everything we do.

We focus on spacing, movement, reads, man principles, and how to create and use advantages. We coach decision making, not chaos and sets. We build skills that last, not shortcuts for weekend wins.

We are invested in long-term development. Confident players. Smart players. Girls who take up space and play with purpose.

We understand the challenges that are unique to girls. Confidence, voice, leadership, pressure. Our coaching is built to grow all of it, not ignore it.

We connect with our players and with their families. We put in the time, we communicate, and we genuinely care about each kid who walks into the gym.

This is real coaching. Intentional, consistent, and built for the future.

WHY WE EXIST

Youth sports have turned into a business. Families pay for access. Kids get separated by income. Girls get fewer teams, fewer resources, and very few coaches who actually understand development. We refuse to accept that.

The Stars exist to give girls something better.
A program with no fees.
A program that keeps opportunity open to every girl, not just the ones with connections.
A program that puts teaching ahead of trophies.
A program that reminds this community that girls matter just as much as boys.

This is not just a team. It is a movement. It is a blueprint for how youth sports should be run. It is a place where girls can grow, compete, belong, and stay in the game for years.

Stars shine brighter in the Hill. And our girls deserve that.
